How to add free pictures on your Ebay auctions

All you need to do is locate the image HTML code of a photo on the Internet and paste it on the HTML tab above the description box when listing on Ebay.

I will show you what to do step by step in order to get free pictures on your ebay listing.

1) When listing your item fill in your Ebay item description as you normally would and make a note where you would like to place your free picture(s). At that location write in capitals 'PICTURE GOES HERE' for example.

2) Open a new window on the Internet and go to photobucket.com ( i will show you how to use photobucket as a example because its the easiest to do this with)

3) Click the picture you want to use from Photobucket.
4) You will now be taken to a page that has a bigger size of the picture and the picture details.locate the box that is titled IMAGE LINK CODE which is on the bottom right of the page.
5) In the box you will see the subtitle HTML CODE and a link under it. Highlight and COPY that link.
6) Go back to your Ebay listing. locate the HTML tab next to standard tab above the box where you have wrote your description. click the HTML TAB.
7) You will now see lots of codes and symbols in the description that may not make sense to you but don't worry about them.locate where you wrote "PICTURE GOES HERE" amongst the codes and symbols and paste the image HTML code link OVER the words ( words being "picture goes here") be sure not to paste over any other text!
8) Click the STANDARD tab above the description box. you will now see the picture you have selected appear on your Ebay auction description!

Now submit your auction as normal and everyone will see the pictures when they look at your listing! you will not be charged any Ebay picture fees and can add as many pictures as you like using this method on your Ebay listings.

How to list an item correctly on Ebay

  • Name the listing appropriately. Make sure you have the proper spelling as bad spelling will decrease your rankings on the search page. If you have space left then write words like 'cheap' or 'best on Ebay' or 'Special offer'. Only do this when you have used the keywords necessarily for a item and have words space left over. Ebay limits the amount of words you can use to name a listing so take that into consideration.
  • Be honest. If you don't be upfront about your item this will cause complications after the sale. You will get a refund request or a negative feedback. So any thing that is supposed to be mentioned, mention it.
  • Use the Ebay advanced specific description. This helps buyers find out all the facts for a item and is much appreciated.if used correctly this helps you get to the top of the search page too.
  • Write not too much but not too little descriptions. Too much will bore the buyer. To little will make the buyer suspicious and make them think you are trying to hide some thing. Try and be factual as you can with specifications, item conditions etc.
  • Use pictures. Use as many as you can. Pictures reassures the buyers that you are a genuine seller. They also help in decision making for the buy. With out pictures items sell for less on Ebay. That is a fact i seen with my own eyes. (Don't fear Ebay pictures fees, see the post that teaches you how to add free pictures to your Ebay listings.)
  • Have a order in your description. dedicate a paragraph to each section of your listings such as item description and postage.Don't jam every thing into one big paragraph as this wont be easy on the eyes of the sellers and they may get frustrated with not being able to find out the information they want to know because it is all clunked up.
  • Use auction templates. gives buyers colour and stimulation. The plain black and white listings with out any real structure screams lack of attention. Templates users report increase in sales so that is always a good reason to use them. (See useful links post to find websites that offer free Ebay listing templates.)
  •  At the end of your listing write all the terms and conditions (if you have any) and write a call to action such as check out my about me page or feedback etc.

How to sell as a new Ebay seller

When you first start of on Ebay you will be faced with a problem. As you will be selling with out any feedback as a seller people will be afraid to bid on your items. This means that your item may not sell for the full value. This happens because buyers are scared of being scammed. Many new Ebay sellers pop up listing items in order to con people put of money. It ends with Ebay suspending their account but the damage gets done.Buyers experience a bad sale and so they become cautious with purchasing from new sellers.
Feedback is essential in selling. Gain positive feedback by buying low priced items to build your feedback. Once you have 5+ feedback and all positive then you can be in the clear.

But some buyers will still be skeptic towards you when you list an item for sale for the first time. You can avoid this by adding pictures you took yourself(don't use random pictures of Google or any other Internet sources) as this will help show buyers that you are authentic and your genuinely selling.
Start of selling low price items just to get feedback. That way you can learn the ropes with out much at risk.I actually sold items from my local pound shop just to get feedback. Some items i made losses on but it had to be done in order to generate feedback.Put in the picture have on a piece of paper you Ebay name in writing next to the item. This reassures sellers that you actually have the item you are listing to sell.Below are pictures i used my self as a newbie to gain trust of Ebayers.
                                                                                                                                                                                            psp alone                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Photobucket
You can also do this in video. To make a video doesn't require much effort. In this day and age every one has mobile phone with a video camera. Use it and host it on Youtube then embed it to your Ebay auctions.

Be specific when listing in auctions. When items are listed with only a few words buyers become suspicious, and it doesn't look very professional. State any known faults or facts regarding the item. Use ebays product description or copy and paste the items specs from a Internet site. It helps clear up any question a buyer has.

Make your returns policy clear and show it well. any terms or conditions you have list them but don't over do it.Items with reserves tend to sell for less or have low biddings,So don't put a reserve on things that don't need it.

TIP: Do not buy feedback from sellers. There are listings on ebay that offer a feedback exchange. This is against Ebay rules. You will eventually get a ban. Buy low prices items for 99pence (the price you will be paying for feedback exchange anyway).

What do you need to sell on Ebay?

  • A computer with a Internet connection.
  • A Ebay account. Its free, just sign up on the Ebay website of your country.
  • A Paypal account which is also free and you can upgrade to a merchant account when the time is right.
  •  A camera. pictures are vital in making sales and as Ebay works on trust, with out pictures people will not bid on your auctions.Cameras are not expensive any more. You don't even need a camera any more due to the high tech mobile devices available.Get a mobile phone with 2 mega pixel camera or more and you are good to go. I use my mobile phone to take pictures. Its not expensive as nearly all new phones come with camera as standard and even video recording.
  • Some cash to post items.
  • Being able to write in English helps.
  • And some determination. For the first few months you need to focus on getting your business running. This can be a daunting task. But don't give up as once you get the ball rolling selling on Ebay will be easy as sitting around at home waiting for orders so you can ship them.
